Colombian Police Plane Crash
On February 18, 2009, a Colombian National Police Douglas DC-3C Basler turbo-conversion aircraft crashed during a mission, claiming the lives of all 11 police officers and crew members on board. The aircraft, a modified DC-3 known for its reliability, took off from Bogotá on a mission to the Cauca Department for anti-drug trafficking operations. Severe weather conditions, including heavy rain and low visibility, likely played a role in the crash. Search and rescue efforts were launched promptly but yielded no survivors. The wreckage was discovered days later in a remote area of Cauca.
