Coast Guard Dornier 228 Skids Off Runway and Bursts into Flames
An incident involving a Coast Guard Dornier 228 aircraft unfolded when it departed from Chennai but encountered a mishap during its touchdown at Chakeri airport. The aircraft skidded off the runway, collided with a concrete structure, and subsequently erupted in flames. Fortunately, a potential catastrophe was averted as the crew, including IAF personnel, who were en route to visit the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited facility in Kanpur, managed to evacuate the aircraft in a timely manner. Remarkably, no injuries were reported, according to official sources. B.K. Jha, the director of Chakeri airport, stated that the cause of the accident is under investigation. Jha explained that the Dornier aircraft's left engine experienced a malfunction, causing it to veer off the runway and come to a halt after colliding with a concrete structure near the tarmac. |
