Cessna 172M Skyhawk Crashes in Cultivation Field Killing Four

On Thursday, a Cessna 172M Skyhawk with registration XB-RRN crashed near the San Miguel Quetzalcóatl Industrial Park in the Santa Ana Xalmimilulco district of Huejotzingo, Puebla.

The flight departed from Hermanos Serdán International Airport at approximately 12:50 PM local time. Its destination was Poza Rica, Veracruz.

Minutes after takeoff, the aircraft reportedly experienced a mechanical failure—preliminary reports suggest an engine stall—which led to an attempted emergency landing in the nearby fields.

Witnesses captured video of the plane performing irregular maneuvers and a sharp turn before it nosedived into the ground.

All four people on board, identified as aviation professionals, lost their lives in the tragedy:
Paulo Antonio Vélez Velásquez: The pilot.
Omar Martínez Tavera: The co-pilot.
Ramsés Olín Zaragoza Burgos: A passenger.
Emilio Gil Ramírez: A passenger.

While he was initially found alive and conscious by emergency responders and taken to the General Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries a few hours later.

The Federal Civil Aviation Agency and the State Attorney General's Office have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.

Preliminary findings point toward Loss of Control-Inflight (LOC-I) following the suspected mechanical issue.

The aircraft, a 1975 model, was reportedly linked to a local flight training school.

Classic stall-spin. Just happened 30 feet off the ground.

Went from 'hey, we might actually save this' to 'nose-in total party death', like THAT.

So many options for an easy forced landing. The metal isn’t worth your life and definitely not the lives of three innocent people.

excessive pitch up into a stall. Surprising how many pilots do this in an emergency. Can't will more energy into to the plane. Even a bad landing is better that what he caused.
