A British Airways Flight BA-2276 Catches Fire at Las Vegas Airport
A British Airways Boeing 777-200, identified as registration G-VIIO, was involved in a dramatic incident at Las Vegas airport while departing for London Gatwick. Flight BA-2276, carrying 157 passengers and 13 crew members, aborted its takeoff at a low speed, stopping approximately 800 meters down runway 07L. The crew promptly issued a Mayday call, alerting of a fire and initiating evacuation procedures. Thirteen individuals sustained minor injuries during the evacuation, with two requiring hospitalization. The fire, originating from the aircraft's left engine, was extinguished by emergency services within four minutes of the takeoff being aborted. The aircraft suffered extensive damage to its left inboard wing and fuselage. |
