Re: Body Recovery From The JAL Flight 123 Crash 8/12/1985
I have a recollection from one of the Aircrash shows, that plenty of people survived the initial crash but died overnight due to the freezing temperatures on the mountain. The crash had been located but due to it looking impossible for anyone to have survived they decided to leave a rescue/retrieve mission for the morning. How 4 lived anyway is beyond a miracle. Lucky isn't the word! |

Re: Body Recovery From The JAL Flight 123 Crash 8/12/1985
IIRC the number who initially survived was maybe 20 or so; many of them probably would have died even if rescuers had arrived sooner as they were very badly injured. This is an unusual example of survivors in what was essentially a non-survivable crash. Ironically, all of the survivors were in the rear of the aircraft, which is where the problem started in the first place. |
