Wonder if it was fueled with Avgas instead of jet fuel? Looks like he tried to pull it off the ground several times on the takeoff roll, so it looks like weak engine (s).

It should still run ok with avgas, maybe even better, a little less lubrication for the accessories? Now, the other way around is just fucked (with a recip eng.) |

Re: Beechcraft King Air 250 Crashes Killing Businessman and His Family
Avgas doesn't have the same caloric value as jet fuel. I think it is shy about 20% or so of the energy that jet fuel or kerosene have. I know Learjets had a setting on their fuel computers to run gasoline or avgas, but the maintenance manual and pilot's manual were very specific about making sure the fuel computers were set to avgas before you did that. I don't know the specific reason for that, but I think the energy yield was part of the problem. If you selected avgas on the fuel computers, they flowed another 15% or so of fuel volume to make up for the energy loss. Theoretically, this guy should have been OK even if he was misfueled, but perhaps he was at (or maybe over) max gross weight, or had sick engines he had been nursing along, and he wound up in a corner where he couldn't accelerate, and couldn't maintain power levels, and wound up hitting the hill. I would be curious to see an initial report, and their NTSB or FAA analysis of the accident causes. |

Yes, that report should sort it out. In the second clip it looks like he's rolled to 90deg. and going in. And everything you said = engine quit or stall/spin? |

It does look like a stall/spin at the end. If at least one engine was working he should have been able to takeoff and climb with no problem. Wonder if they will even have a report on this. Oh, well. He has some happy rich relatives, now.

I don’t know how long the runway was but from the start it looks like he can’t get higher off the ground. His engines are moving slow enough the see the propeller. Maybe could have aborted take off
