AR-1 N47AR Crash Near Gainesville, GA

An amateur-built, single-engine AR-1, registration N47AR, crashed near Gainesville, GA, on March 25, 2023. The aircraft sustained substantial damage.

The pilot was the only person aboard and was fatally injured.

The crash was caused by the pilot's inadequate preflight inspection and failure to detect water-contaminated fuel, which led to a loss of engine power. During the attempted forced landing, the aircraft struck a wire and terrain.
