Airport Worker Killed when Boeing 737 Crushes His Tow Truck

In a tragic incident this morning, an airport worker lost his life while another was injured when a Boeing 737 aircraft crushed a tow truck while being maneuvered to the gate at Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok, Thailand.

The incident occurred at approximately 8 am local time when a connecting bar between the aircraft and the tow truck snapped. The Boeing 737 continued to move forward, ultimately crushing the white vehicle beside its wing.

Engineer and groundworker Thanisorn Oncha-am was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to severe injuries sustained in the collision. Another mechanic inside the tow tractor was injured during the accident.

CCTV footage revealed that the towing tractor became immobilized after the bar broke, leading to the aircraft's unintended forward movement.

Airport director Samphan Khutharanon provided details, stating, "The Nok Air flight DD6458 from Don Mueang to Nakhon Si Thammarat collided with a Nok Air tow truck. The accident happened while the truck was dragging the plane to the gate to wait for passengers to travel. The towing device that connects the vehicle to the plane broke, causing it to stop while the plane continued moving forward."

The incident led to a delay in Nok Air's scheduled flight DD6458 from Bangkok to Nakhon Si Thammarat. The airline decided to take the affected plane out of service for damage assessment and further investigation. A replacement aircraft was used for the 8:40 am flight, which departed at 9:50 am.

They were probably doing a porn check in the cockpit. That's what we always did while being dragged around.
