Air Tractor AT-802 Crashed into Hilly Area Leaving Burned Body of Pilot Inside
A Pelita Air Service, Air Tractor AT-802 had just completed a fuel delivery at an airport and was returning to Juwata International Airport in North Kalimantan, Indonesia when it crashed into the hilly area of East Krayan. The sole occupant, Captain Hendrick Lodewyck Adam (54), was confirmed deceased. His body was found inside the burned wreckage and has been evacuated to Pratama Krayan Hospital. The black box has not yet been recovered due to difficult terrain and weather conditions. Witnesses reported seeing the aircraft emit thick black smoke before plunging down. An Emergency Locator Transmitter signal was detected approx. 5 km from the runway shortly after takeoff. The Ministry of Transportation stated the aircraft was in airworthy condition, having undergone its last routine 100-hour and 200-hour inspections on February 11, 2026. |
