Aftermath of KrasAvia Mi-8 Helicopter That Crashed in Russia
On December 25th, a Mi-8 helicopter operated by KrasAvia airline experienced a hard landing in the Krasnoyarsk region, tipping over on its side due to a snow swirl. The incident resulted in multiple injuries among the 29 people on board, including the ship's commander and a female bailiff, both of whom sustained serious leg fractures. The helicopter was performing a flight in the Evenkiya region and was forced to make an emergency landing near the Baikit settlement. Following the crash, six individuals were initially hospitalized in the Krasnoyarsk region. Two were reported in medium condition, while four others were under examination, all with fractures. As medical personnel continued to assess the passengers and crew, the number of casualties increased. A spokesperson for the regional Health Ministry later confirmed to TASS that the injury toll had risen to 16. "A total of 16 people suffered injuries, five of them were taken to hospital," the spokesperson stated, reassuring that their lives were not in danger. The helicopter, en route to an oilfield, encountered a snowstorm during takeoff, which contributed to the crash-landing at an airfield near the Baikit settlement. The aircraft was carrying 21 passengers and three crew members at the time of the accident. |
