Aeroflot Flight 1492 Crash at Sheremetyevo, May 5, 2019
Aeroflot Flight 1492, a Sukhoi Superjet 100 bound from Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport to Murmansk, crashed on May 5, 2019. The aircraft was struck by lightning while climbing out, causing a malfunction. During the return landing at Sheremetyevo, the aircraft made a hard, bouncing touchdown. The landing gear collapsed and a fire broke out. Of the 78 people aboard, 41 died and 37 survived.
