Re: World's Most Extreme Bridges
I found this which states that the bridge on the right is the new bridge: http://www.beersteak.com/breaking-ne...driving-cross/ |

Re: World's Most Extreme Bridges
Maybe they did put some old caption found somewhere under some recent photo: also the "rail only" explanation would make perfectly sense, in my opinion: though the old bridge and the new one path merge, at some point, they seem to just go parallel, not a perfect merging: in this case, Green=old bridge + road Red=new bridge + rail ![]() Besides, the widht of the bridge matches perfectly the darker strip after the end of the bridge: ![]() Now, only some assesment on the actual width of the bridge & dark stip could help: since the scale is known, this can be (roughly)done. ![]() According to this very rough calculation, the width (Track gauge or Rail gauge) looks to be about 1/1,5 meters. In Finland and in Russia the rail gauge is 1524 mm (approx. 1,5 meters): So, if the scale is correct, and if I'm not too drunk, NiteFlyer is correct: that's a rail-only bridge. |

Re: World's Most Extreme Bridges
It's confirmed as Railway bridge: see: The railway bridge through Vitim. Ж/д мост через р.Витим (БАМ) Found some more pics, including a view from the botton of the wooden one: it seems to be stronger than it looks to be from the top view |
