They use them primarily for parts, but before they're put 'in-mothballs' they remove several systems, engines, etc., cover all windows and seal the plane intakes and open bays to avoid a much dust and sand as possible. But at some point the entire fuselage is scrapped and recycled and sold as raw metals.
