Re: Why We Did It (Debunking the Iraq War)
I agree with what you said, but feel it is hypocritical of us to sell him the weapons then invade the entire country when he uses them.. It's like selling a kid a bb gun and telling him not to shoot it.. |

Re: Why We Did It (Debunking the Iraq War)
You just admitted that they had weapons of mass destruction in the same thread you created with intentions of trying to disprove the claim. We sold him weapons and realized it was a mistake. |

Re: Why We Did It (Debunking the Iraq War)
The thing with chemical weapons like the ones we sold(viruses, anthrax, bubonic plague) are that they have no actual uses other than being chemical weapons. So I gotta stick with the analogy of giving a loaded gun to a kid and telling him not to use it. |

Re: Why We Did It (Debunking the Iraq War)
that, i agree with as well. to me though, it seems like when a country makes a mistake (gives a dangerous person weapons), they should then try to remedy that mistake (invade and overthrow in this case was the only real option) and take responsibility. the invasion of iraq was painted as that remedy but clearly we were lied to about that. my point is that i disagree with everything the US did as a whole except for the actual invasion iraq and overthrow of Saddam. while i agree that it should have been done earlier and the timing of when it was actually achieved was horrible, but in the end, the fact remains that at some point saddam needed to be removed from power. that is the only bright spot i can see in the whole situation. i think that alone should have been justification for invading... so the 'where are the WMDs' argument is invalid to me. that's now what the lies were about, is my only point. |

Re: Why We Did It (Debunking the Iraq War)
Bite your tongue. We are far better than that piece of shit. Maybe you should consider living in a country that isn't as evil as this one. Anyways I have often wondered whether the government gave Saddam those weapons so they could have an excuse to invade in the future. Kind of like setting Saddam up for failure because I refuse to believe government officials were simpleminded enough not to see that he was a psychopath capable of unspeakable atrocities. |

Re: Why We Did It (Debunking the Iraq War)
Don't get me wrong, I'm a patriot but our country has done some pretty fucked up things.. That's probably a likely scenario, like a backup plan just in case Iran didn't take him out.. |
