Weirdest Regional Foods in the US

This is a slide show so it is a link:

Loco Moco, Hawaii

One of Hawaii’s most popular comfort foods, the loco moco consists of white rice topped with a hamburger patty, a fried egg, and brown gravy. The dish debuted in 1949 at Lincoln Grill in Hilo, where it was served for 25 cents. Lincoln Grill has since shuttered, but chef Sam Choy offers a stellar traditional version at his Kai Lanai restaurant on the Big Island.

Re: Weirdest Regional Foods in the US

fried pickles and fried breaded alligator bits popular here in east Texas. my fried pickles are amazing but they take so long to make, 1 1/2 hours to make and about 5 min to eat, but worth it

Re: Weirdest Regional Foods in the US

Fried green tomatoes (had some 2 days ago), fried zucchini, frog legs, and fried of okra. I rarely eat fried but make exceptions for these on occasion. There's also fried chicken, fried chicken livers, & fried pickles. All very popular here in the south. And how could I forget jalapeno poppers! Peppers stuffed with cheese, battered, deep fried then served with ranch dressing! Have mercy!! Yep, everything is fried here in the south & all served with sweet tea ya'll (that'swhy so many of us are fat asses lol )

Re: Weirdest Regional Foods in the US

I'm from the south. Boiled peanuts and deep fried chicken gizzards. I once had a dream of starting my own restaurant franchise featuring gizzards and peanuts. I wanted to call it "Nuts-N-Guts".

I'm from the south. Boiled peanuts and deep fried chicken gizzards. I once had a dream of starting my own restaurant franchise featuring gizzards and peanuts. I wanted to call it "Nuts-N-Guts".

I used to eat gizzards until I got older and realized they looked like little testicles.

I looked that word up one day and found that they basically are of no use to the turkey. They're just there under the digestive system.

My dad used to make the best turkey stuffing with gizzards.
