Weighing of a Baby Koala
This is how a baby koala is weighed. These animals do not leave their mother and cling to her day and night. Any separation causes them anxiety. Veterinarians have come up with a gentle method: during the procedure, the koala is given a toy to hug, which replaces the mother. This way, the animal remains calmer during the moment, and the doctors get accurate data about its health. |

I’m a little surprised that mom was as calm as she was getting her baby taken.  And why is it some important to weigh a koala baby?  |

it provides data for research on koala development, helping improve care practices/support foer endangered populations. when born they're about 2 cm long and weigh less than 1 gram  so weight gain is a key indicator of having proper nutrition and development.
