It is called a volcanic storm and is characterized by the formation of lightning in a cloud of ash that rises from a volcano during an eruption. While in a normal thunderstorm the electrical discharges are produced by the collision of ice and moisture particles with different charges, in a volcanic storm the electrical discharges are produced by the collision of ash particles and volcanic gases. |

wow, how wonderous. imagine seeing this in ancient times as your whole city got covered in ash and went up in flames, like in pompeii. you could only think the gods were destroying the world. gives me a deeper appreciation for the 'pompeii masturbator', who decided to rub one out during the apocalypse. lol.  |
