JAWS is probably my all-time favorite movie.

Saw a documentary last year on IFC or maybe the Sundance channel... coulda been A&E even, anyway it's a miracle the movie ever got made or Spielberg ever got another movie again. The whole production was fraught with disaster and was nearly shit-canned at many points. Watch it if you ever get the chance.

If u buy the DVD it shows the making of jaws & commentary at the end of the movie, at least both of my copies do.

Living on the northern California coast my whole life I grew up surfing and on the water.My family for generations have all been fishermen except me,I went to college.
I don't think there was not a single day on the water I didn't think of some part of this movie.
A few years ago a family friend was surfing at salmon creek(about a mile from where we live)and she was bitten by a great white.
She was ok in the end,just needed a lot of stitches.
