Re: Unknown State Mental Hospital
The photos are all from the same book: Asylum: Inside the Closed World of State Mental Hospitals by Christopher Payne Very interesting book, with more than 200 great photographs (black and white, color) showing the decayed remains of numerous hospitals in dozens of states, an impressive work. Photo 1 = Kankakee State hospital – Kankakee (Illinois) Photo 2 = Autopsy theatre, St. Elizabeth Hospital, Washington D.C. Photo 3 = Breezeway to infirmary ward, Taunton State hospital, Taunton (Massachusetts) Photo 4 = Lobby of Mead Building, Yankton State Hospital, Yankton (South Dakota) Photo 5 = State records and files, Spring Grove State Hospital, Catonsville (Maryland) Photo 6 = Courtyard gazebo, Concord State Hospital, Concord (New Hampshire) Photo 7 = Patient Toothbrushes, Hudson River State Hospital, Poughkeepsie (New York) |

Re: Unknown State Mental Hospital
that place is so much more beautiful than the current facilities. Remember, it wasn't so long ago that people had actual money. A slow degredation in quality and cutting corners for maximum income has made the current healthcare facilities.. substandard at best. If I were going to be put in a straight jacket, abused, drugged up and experimented on, I would rather it be in a lovely place such as that. |
