My much younger dumb ass climbed trees a few times without ropes to cut them down 35-40 years ago. I cut trees down professionally in a firewood business but I had zero experience climbing trees & only very basic equipment (no climbing spikes, etc.) & just did it on the side when someone asked. I was smart enough to secure myself once I got to the top.
