Titanic Victim Graveyard

This is a photo I took that I wanted to share. It's the final resting place of just over 40 'Titanic' victims, most graves are simply & sadly marked "Unknown" - located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Just think, they may well have had relatives/friends who would have recognised them but alas! They could not afford to travel out and formally identify their loved ones.

There is one grave there of an unknown 3 year old boy whom the sailors of the Carpathia paid for to be buried as he was unidentified. Very touching.

Being there made the whole historical event seem more 'real' somehow.

Majority were lost at sea, under 200 were fished out of the water by a rescue ship some days later and around 70 were buried at sea during the rescue due to being in too bad a state to bring back to shore.
