Re: Spider Face Close-Ups
Another cut & paste Why are spiders so hairy? Despite having eight eyes, many spiders can’t see much at all. Instead, they use sensory hairs and pores of various sorts to make sense of their world via touch, taste, moisture and vibration sensations. Narrow flexible slits in the skin (cuticle) around the leg joints sense web vibrations caused by struggling prey and tell the spider the position of its legs when spinning a web. |

Re: Spider Face Close-Ups
My daughter used to be horrified by spiders until she got all scared by a common house spider and I showed her they're harmless by picking it up. Grossed me the fuck out because I fucking hate spiders, but it got her over being freaked out by spiders. She knows not to pick up spiders with pointy, meaty legs like Black Widows. Only skinny legged spiders are okay to play with.
