Re: Severe Hailstorm in South Africa
I remember this one time I went for a surf in Durban (close to 'maritzburg) when I was struck by this large hailstone on my thumb splitting my skin and causing it to bleed. At first I thought someone had thrown a rock at me because no other hailstones had landed yet believe it or not, but in the next couple of seconds I was pelted big time. I was out in the open with no cover other than my surfboard which I flipped over and hid under. The hail didn't last for long fortunately, but I was pretty bummed-out that the deck of my surfboard was dinged and hail-damaged to the max. The area gets a lot of humidity which plays a mayor role in the development of hail. |

Re: Severe Hailstorm in South Africa
Hahaha, go to Oklahoma sometime... Couple days ago got 6" of hail... I've been hit on the side of the head by slightly larger than golf ball sized hail before... Left a welt for 4 days...
