Re: Red Haired | Human Race Education
Well, as a redhead with green eyes I can attest that people either love us or hate us. I get stared at a lot, even by my own family. It is maddening. My friend Melicia, rest her horny soul, would often remind me of this old schoolyard taunt: I'd rather be dead like a lump on a log than have red hair like the dick of a dog. Gah, o well...

Re: Red Haired | Human Race Education
My hair is dark red, but I don't fall in the 'ginger' category. And gingers shouldn't be called redheads, because their hair isn't red, ffs. It's copper-toned, sometimes orange, ![]() True 'red' only comes in a bottle. Crazy ass, colorblind Celts. |

Red, orange, copper, still a witch, Mine turns red if I'm in the sun too much, but then so does my skin. Except for the freckles that is.

Re: Red Haired | Human Race Education
A study By BritainsDNA carried out in August 2013 was based on data from 2,343 people who have undergone DNA tests to learn more about their ancestry. Researchers looked at three different variants of the MC1R gene, which causes red hair. According to BritainsDNA, those with 151-Cysteine-red have a 70,000 year old variant that probably arose in West Asia; those with 160-Tryptophan-red are descendants of someone who probably also lived in West Asia 70,000 years ago; and 294-Histidine-reds belong to a much younger group who come from a European who lived about 30,000 years ago. In order for a child to develop red hair, both parents must be carriers of one of these red-hair gene variants. But even then there is only a 25 per cent their child will be born ginger. Around six per cent of Scots have red hair, or about 300,000 people. Of the English, about four per cent - around 2.1million people - are red heads. |
