A Real Shot at Eternal Life?

Cryonic preservation from http://www.alcor.org.

I looked into this a while ago but it was very early and had little scientific support behind it.

What's changed recently:

-Minimizing damage to tissues during the freezing process by using specially developed biocompatible anti-freeze.

-The assumption that nanorobotics will eventually be able to repair the body at the cellular level. After repair, the body can be resuscitated.

They point out that minimizing damage is critical since the worse the damage, the longer it will take, if ever, for technology to develop a solution.

Of course, you could end up thawed out and rotting for any number of reasons, or worse, but why not give it a try?

Can you imagine if it worked? One day waking up knowing the world around you how it was and it be 1000 years in the future like futurama.

Seems plausible to me. The body is a machine. If it's preserved in good condition and fully repaired via some future technology, why couldn't it just be restarted?

100 years ago a heart defibrillator and it's ability to restart a stopped heart would have seemed like magic.

The biggest problem right now is that brain damage occurs very quickly after death. Ideally, you'd be preserved right at the moment of death(or just before). For someone who's terminal, they can station a "crash team" nearby to stabilize the body and prevent any further cell damage.

It's not nearly as expensive as you'd think.

They're a non-profit and their financials are open for review. No one is getting rich from this. An earlier cryonic company was run privately, the money for maintaining preservation was embezzled, and everybody thawed out, so there's obviously a lot of emphasis on preventing that from happening again.

In panic, and at the end of their rope, some people will think that there 'might' be a chance.

This company is more than happy to take their money with no promise whatsoever.

It's a con job.

Well, if your body isn't preserved, there's definitely no chance of future resuscitation.

Re: A Real Shot at Eternal Life?

Your body isn't preserved.

Your destroyed body is frozen.

Just send me $85,000 and I will guarantee that I will re-animate you on this Earth in 5,000 years.

I will summon your spiritual essence at that time and place you into a new body of your choice.

The popsicle people offer no guarantee.

Me? I guarantee results as promised.

Just send the check to:

Re: A Real Shot at Eternal Life?

I'd still like to hear your theory as to why this has no possibility of working? Leave the mystical out of it.

Simpler animals like Wood Frogs can already be frozen solid and revived later in the laboratory.

That's a selling point that the con men use for the hopeful and desperate.

There is one in troublesome fact.

As it turns out, we are not Wood Frogs.

When human cells are frozen, the water in the cell expands and the cell walls are ruptured.

The snake oil salesman and their fool clients are the only ones dealing with the 'mystical'.

They cloak it in snake oil passed off as 'science'.

The freezer people make no guarantees whereas I do.

Send your money to me.

I have a secret process and I guarantee that you will be revived in the future and will live forever.

Payment in full is required in advance, of course.
