it is utterly appalling how those soldiers could live with themselves after seeing everything around them yet still being apart of it, let alone raping the women and children too. it is unbelievable. there was a woman who wrote a novel about the rape of nanking, she killed herself after

We're all capable of cruelty..ask anyone that served in combat. We don't like to admit it to ourselves but that's why we dehumanize the enemy. Some of the transgressions I engaged in may be justified by saving myself or another but it's primarily in the mindset, i.e. quickly or to get even....
