Or could just be the result of volcanic activity. On Edwards AFB there's an area that's an extinct volcano, the rocks there are unique to that particular area and look like hexagonal posts, as if they were cut. There's another area called Devil's Post Pile near Mammoth, California which is very similar but comprised of obsidian.

It is odd, never been explained one way or another. As Firedog points out some people/scientists think it could be volcanic in origin, others that it's a crashed satellite. I know Buzz 'A' says it is a alien monolith, despite his undoubted expertise on space travel I think he's watched '2001 A space odyssey' a few too many times. |
