Palces and Old Russian Officer Club in Afghanistan
Im sure there are a lot of abandoned building in the Stan but these are ones have a lot of history. Russian officer club that was built during the war. There are blown out Russian tanks all around this place. Afghan Army sometimes uses this building as an outpost. King Darul Aman Palace (means adobe of peace). Was destroyed during the war by Mujahedeen when they bombed it while the Russians occupied it. Was supposed to become the new parliament building but the Afghans are building a new building near it instead. Afghan Army typically hangs out around and in it but don't live there. Tajbeg Palace was built for King Darul Aman's wife. We typically call it the Queens Palace. Was also destroyed during the Russian invasion and the Afghan president Hafizullah Amin was killed in this building. Afghans has outposts around the outside but I haven't seen any inside the building. The palace sits on a hill over looking Kabul and the King's Palace. |
