Re: Our American Arrogance

Excellent post John. The US has done more then any other country in the world to help countries whose people were under attack from their own government; whose countries were under attack from bigger and stronger countries, etc.

It pisses me off when other countries (particularly France) bad mouth the US. I wish there would be a President that would say to France, you know what. If it were not for the US you would be speaking German and having bratwurst as a daily meal you unappreciative assholes. In fact, any aid or resources we send to you is done as of now. To take it one step further as repayment of our liberating, defending, and supporting the French, FRANCE can repay our debt to China.

Re: Our American Arrogance

I only have two things to say. 1. I'm an American, and those comments didn't offend me at all. 2. Just because this country has a history of defending most of Europe at some point or another, doesn't mean we're not arrogant. Can't it be both?

You could look at it that way....... You could also look at it as without France's help, America would still be just another British Colony.

Re: Our American Arrogance

I am not ignorant about the ressentiment towards us, I just don't care. Iraq was wrong to be done that way by us, but look at his track record. He deserved to die, but in another way.

Trashcanistan on the other hand had it coming. They knew what was up, but still would not turn Ossama beenfuckeduphisass Laden.
Your right, Afghanistan was not optional.... You can't leave them a safe place to launch attacks from, they had their chance, and they didn't want to play ball with us.
Unfortunately I don't think things are any better now than 10 years ago though, and as soon as we leave the Taliban will take over within a year, probably much less..... Then what do we do?

Re: Our American Arrogance

America is like the loud-mouth, arrogant, fat kid (who thinks he's buff) at school, who thinks he's popular but no-one really likes.

Hhhhmmmmmmmmmmm................................... ..
Seems like you have had plenty of experience with this sort of thing. If I had to guess, I would say you are speaking from experience. So, how does it feel to think you are buff when you are an overweight oaf, and how does it feel to think you are popular when nobody really likes you ?

It must be devastating to you, and I would say it has given you a complex of sorts, otherwise you would not be saying this kind of shit. That about right ?

Re: Our American Arrogance

Without America to come to it's defense all of Europe might still be under the NAZI boot.
[Error buzzer] America did not voluntarily join WW2, at least against the germans. US entered the war because of pearl harbor, and ONLY declared war on japan. It wasn't until hitler himself declared war on america, that you got off your asses and decided to do something. Not to mention the trade you would have lost if hitler took over europe...

And unoffically, you we're fighting german navy in the atlantic, only because they we're seizing your trade routes. Even then you would not declare yourselves an enemy to hitler...

You know something ? I have to call them the way I see them, and you sir are correct. I am not sure many people really realize it that way, but you are correct.
