Operation PLUTO
1944 PLUTO (Pipe Line Under The Ocean) was a World War II operation by British scientists, oil companies and armed forces to construct undersea oil pipelines under the English Channel between England and France. Pretty frigging amazing for back then.

hahaha i knw why.... on the map it clearly shows WIRRAL.. which is on the other side of the river mersey,, people always say liverpool, as wirral / birkenhead is lesser known. anyways,,,, it will be down at ellesmere port / stanlow refinery, the largest in britain, based on the mersey out into the sea still going to google it. lol |
