I know I'm bumping an old post, but I can't help it. I just read each and every comment on here word for word. I read every word of the articles. I watched/listened to the videos. And I'm sitting here in tears. On 9/11, I was at work - the only adult in the facility - and I didn't have access to a radio or television. I had NO IDEA what had happened until that evening. I went home and watched the news, empathized with families and friends (strangers to me) who had lost loved ones, cried a couple of times... and forgot about it. To me, after those first few days, it was just an awful thing that happened... a thing that happened to strangers. I was able to think about it objectively... and I blamed us for it. I blamed America for sticking its fingers in the business of other countries, cultures, religions... for giving money to people who would become terrorists in their own countries. We deserved it, as far as I was concerned - as a country. Not, mind you, the individuals who experienced it personally. The people who lived through it, the people who died in it, the people who had to live without loved ones... they were, on an individual basis, innocent in my eyes, but my country as a whole needed a wake-up call to realize that our actions have affected others in horrible ways. And so I de-personalized the event in my mind. This thread brought it home for me. It personalized it in a way that I don't think anything else could have done, short of being there myself. I want to thank you for that. And I hope that some day, I can forgive you for it as well. |

People, regardless of what you think about 9/11 being an inside job and all of that, the fact remains that almost 3,000 innocent men, women, and children were murdered that day, and many more since. Had it been up to me, I'd have brought Osama Beenfuckeduphisass Laden to the new # 1 World Trade Center tower, lit a fire under his ass, and said burn or jump. Better yet, I'd have made him burn for a couple of minutes, then tossed his ass off and watch him explode like so many others did on 9/11. Then I'd scrape his ass up, put him in a blender on high, then throw what was left to the sharks. |
