Norway's Valentines Day Northern Lights Display (14/15 Feb 2011)
Wow!, this what the Feb 14/15th aurora display looked like from Vesterålen North of Norway. This stunning image was taken by Øystein Lunde Ingvaldsen and shows what a difference in latitude can do to the height and magnitude of an aurora display. This beautiful light show was caused by the impact of a solar wind stream from a coronal hole in the sun in conjunction with a southern dip in the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) which, in my opinion, is the most important value on the aurora charts to be watching.
