Night-Time Landscape Photos Completely Illuminated by Moonlight
On display at White Cube Bermondsey in London from January 22 – April 14, 2014 is a new solo exhibition from artist and photographer Darren Almond entitled, To Leave a Light Impression. In a breathtaking series of night-time landscape photos, Almond takes 12 – 30 minute long exposure photographs under the light of a full moon. In a recent interview with The Guardian, Almond explains: The ‘Fullmoon’ series have taken Almond to every continent over a period of 13 years. Born in 1971 in Wigan, United Kingdom, Darren Almond lives and works in London. He graduated from Winchester School of Art in 1993 and held his first solo exhibition in 1995. Re: Night-Time Landscape Photos Completely Illuminated by Moonlight
I started doing some of that about a year and a half ago... I don't have any recent pics up... But here are a few of my early ones... I really am trying to find old buildings to do this with but most in my area have been torn down... First moon lit pic I took... ![]() Second.... ![]() Took these in a cemetery at midnight, full moon... ![]() The following are moon lit with some added effect with light painting... ![]() My favorite one.... This one really has a creepy vibe with me. In no other place in the cemetery did I get the chills, except taking this pic. The angle, lighting and background all have a surrealistic, non earthly feel. |
