Another photo of the same wheel bug. They're scary looking but very welcome in my garden.
We have both assassin bugs and praying mantis around our house during years where the temps and the moisture levels are moderate. They climb onto our window and porch screens to catch bugs that are attracted to our house lighting. They are fun to watch in action but you have to be patient and stay very still.

Used something called "tilt-shift Photoshop" on this picture of the road I live on. You can only see a little bit of the grass in my yard here. I grew up in this neighborhood so I've walked up and down this hill a million times.
