For many South Florida anglers, fall is their favorite time of year. It's not because of cooler temperatures after a long, steamy summer.

It's because fall is when schools of mullet show up. The mullet, which migrate south along the Atlantic coast before heading offshore to spawn, attract a variety of predators ranging from snook, sharks and Spanish mackerel to tarpon, jacks and bluefish.

Among the best things about the mullet run, which usually gets going at the end of September and the beginning of October, are the many opportunities it presents to anglers, who can fish from boats, bridges, piers and beaches.
