Moon Rivers
1) Funki Porcini playing his version of Moon River with untold Moog gear--called Moog River. 2) Kid Koala playing Moon River across 3 turntables, and dedicated to all Moms. In Madison Wisconsin. Kid Koala is a good person to watch live. When I did some years ago he insisted upon the audience starting a giant Conga Line, and proceeded to proliferate hundreds of official Kid Koala Kazoos into the crowd. The line captured everyone, and snaked all through the space, up two floors, and down again onto the stage to collect the man himself--his records abandoned to just play out. It was marvellous and hilarious as hell, and made everyone so happy, and crazy to have unfamiliar hands on them. To this day I'm sure it was a ploy to break the tech-spell cast on everyone--get everyone unclung from their various devices' suction. He looks harmless, but he can be a little Funk Badger when he wants to be. BONUS: Luke Vibert & Jean Jacques Perrey - Frere Jacques |

I've only heard some of that music, but it's good for sure. I'm sure all of it is. Here's what I've been working on building over the past year. Only the one large chunk upper left of it is made by Moog--a Mother-32, but the big open slot below it is for when I finally buy the new Moog DFAM. Have you seen any of the even newer Moog stuff: the Grandmother, or the Moog One? I use that keyboard mostly only to control my synth modules through MIDI, but it's a digital clone of the old Fender Rhodes piano--pretty fun to play with just on its own. I made the enclosure, quick swappable tier system, and all the power distribution stuff myself.  · |
