Re: Mom Kept Her in Bedroom 25 Years
Great post, Deanie. I will never understand what makes some people think they have the right to do stuff like this to their kids, or anyone else, for that matter. Just horrible |

Re: Mom Kept Her in Bedroom 25 Years
Genie's was a sad story as is Blanche's. In Genie's case. her sperm donor diagnosed her as, "severely retarded," because he and the woman who bore her were either too ignorant or too lazy to raise her. The government, if memory serves, stopped paying for her care, and I hadn't heard what happened to her. Her social worker was caring for her. She had made great progress, going to dances and such. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genie_(feral_child) · |

Re: Mom Kept Her in Bedroom 25 Years
We had a recent case here in Filtydelphia where a couple or trio was keeping mentally challenged people chained in a basement for their disability checks. I bet it does happen more than we know. People don't want to get involved, for one thing, and how would you really know anything was going on, unless you saw a person going in and not coming out? In this case, I'm surprised the boyfriend didn't make an attempt to find her. |
