Meteor Streaking Across the Night Sky in Libya

On Sunday evening, October 4, 2026, a brilliantly glowing meteor streaked across the night sky over the Libyan capital of Tripoli and other parts of western Libya.

The fireball lit up the night sky intensely before breaking apart. Moments later, it produced a powerful, explosion-like boom resembling loud thunder.

The sonic blast was so intense that residents in Tripoli and surrounding areas reported light ground tremors and vibrations that shook doors and windows.

The celestial fragments gradually faded out in the air. There are no reports of space debris or meteorite fragments hitting the ground, and no damage or threats to public safety were recorded.

Re: Meteor Streaking Across the Night Sky in Libya

I would be willing to bet they were rocket fragments, because of how the object just collapsed into parts, and the fires went out. The structure failed and disintegrated, and immediately dropped speed until it was no longer incandescent. I bet the pieces are out there in the desert. Too bad a lot of the British and German mine fields are still out there in the desert, as well.
