At 19:08 on 19 November, many people in southern Norway saw a powerful meteor light up the evening sky. Around 100 reports and descriptions were reported.

The meteor went west of Florø and burned completely up in the atmosphere 65 km above sea level. Several have associated this meteor with the Leonid meteor shower that is active these days, but this meteor belongs to another swarm that is also active at the same time: the northern Taurids.

The Taurids do not produce as many meteors as the Leonids, but the Taurids occasionally produce very powerful meteors, like this one.
