Re: Marijuana: A Chronic History

The only thing that makes it a gateway drug is the fact that yohave to go to a drug dealer to get it now. Not only do they sell pot, they also usually have other drugs like meth, cocaine, etc ....naturally, they want to make more money by getting people addicted to something else.

Re: Marijuana: A Chronic History

its a gateway drug because if you smoke a lot of buckets or bongs you're high enough to say 'hell yeah' if someone opens a bag of actual addictive narcotics, but if drunk enough, you can king hit someone, drunk drive, choose easily to 'gateway' to addictive drugs, and so on... so you get the picture... alcohol is one too

Re: Marijuana: A Chronic History

Its funny how this has changed in the last couple of years. I just moved away from Denver after having lived there for 6 years, and Denver is the new Amsterdam. When I first moved there in 2006, the only people that would defend mj were the ones who wanted to use it, they were usually upstanding citizens who had to keep it a secret. I believe that it is to the point now where people like myself, who do not smoke, are willing to defend it based on the above posted graph.

In other words, people are finally able to start speaking objectively about the subject and realize that whether or not you have a dog in the fight, whether or not you use weed, it is still worth endorsing based on principal.

It used to be that if you were defending weed, you were most likely a stoner. I'm so glad to see this is no longer the case. Just the fact that it has made its way into the general discussion and dialogue of society is a victory in itself, the History channel video is case in point.

Re: Marijuana: A Chronic History

That alcohol vs pot chart seems a bit biased. Driving stoned can surely get you killed. I tried it once and it was extremely difficult to focus remain centered in my lane. Also I made some candy and it was just insanely powerful. I won't even use that stuff anymore. And since it would make me feel mentally slow I just don't see how it's growing brain cells. More like growing stoned, effed up cells.
I still have nothing against people using the stuff. Personally I would rather have an energy drink.
I'm sure no one ever overdosed on pot but it's just as certain there have been accidents caused by stoned driving.

I'm sure you are right John. It is a touched bias in this regard.
