Re: Little Girl Takes the Chinese "School Bus" Home

I wonder if they're trying to pivot dogs from food to pets. Or do some of them already have dogs as pets?
Nice video!
When I was in China, my guide on the tour was saving up to buy a dog. It was like her major DREAM. I bought her a book on dog care as a gift before I left. (She actually had a CAT when she was little, which was EXTREMELY rare in China.)

At that time, you had to get a permit to have a dog. I think it has changed now. I know there was some controversy a few years ago, because one of the Beijing city ministers hated dogs. There was such an outcry over his petty rules that they replaced him and repealed most of what he had enacted. Dogs WERE very expensive at that time, because they were so rare. Since she was saving up, I told her to get an American Eskimo, which is a small dog, but is REALLY smart and is a wonderful companion. I had gotten my wife one, and it was her beloved pet and little buddy through her whole life.

My trip was 25 years ago, and now you see dogs EVERYWHERE in Beijing.
