''This was captured at 11:00am as a storm was coming in. I had my camera on a tripod with several filters stacked to reduce the amount of light. The filters and settings allowed for the shutter to remain open for 6 seconds to create an exposure. After about 20 consecutive shots of rain this bolt of lightning hit the water! A once in a lifetime shot for me. This was my first attempt at photographing lightning. Its much easier at night!''

no idea if it struck something on the surface or just under the surface or what.... i didnt know lightning could strike water

according to a weather site which i saw featuring that as the image o the day says it's real but i'm no expert

It is 100% real. Lightning commonly strike large bodies of water. I have videos of this happening. I will post one.
