It ran away into the forest and the forest department are looking for him.

The incident is from Juganupur village of Dhaurahra forest range. On Tuesday afternoon at around 1 o'clock, some people were working near the chimney of Medai Lal Verma's brick kiln.

During this time, a leopard came out of the field and attacked them. Among them was Mihilal (42) of the village. Mihilal was not afraid, he confronted the leopard. He jumped on the leopard and grabbed it with both his hands.

Mihilal fell on the leopard on a pile of bricks and climbed on it. He started punching the leopard. People present nearby started throwing bricks to save the young man.

After getting hurt, the leopard left Mihilal and went towards the fields. There are leopard's paw marks at many places on Mihilal's body.

On receiving the information, regional forest officer Nripendra Chaturvedi reached the spot with his team. When the team moved forward with a net to catch the leopard that had entered the banana field, the leopard attacked the team.

Forest Inspector Rajesh Kumar Dixit, Ranger Nripendra Chaturvedi, PRV constable Ram Sajeevan and Iqbal Khan of the village were injured in the attack.

The injured were first admitted to CHC Dhaurahra. After initial treatment here, Mihilal, Iqbal Khan and forest inspector Rajesh Dixit were referred to Lakhimpur District Hospital. Ranger Nripendra Chaturvedi and constable Ram Sajeevan had minor injuries and were discharged from the hospital.

Mihilal said- We were going to the plant to see the plants, when some people started saying that a leopard has come. We were going on the same way, then we peeped under the chimney. Then suddenly it came out and attacked us.

First he attacked my right hand. Then I also caught hold of him. Our fight continued for about 15-20 minutes. During this time people standing nearby also threw bricks and stones at him. Finally he got scared and ran away, then people took me to the hospital.

Injured forest guard Rajesh Kumar Dixit said- we were engaged in the rescue operation of a leopard in Jethpura, when on the way we got the information that another leopard has been seen near the kiln. Some people are harassing it.

We immediately reached the spot with two-three employees. There was a crowd gathered there. First we removed the crowd. After this the leopard was seen. He was in an abnormal condition. When I and the doctor proceeded to examine him, the leopard attacked. We were brought to the hospital. Then the leopard was tranquilized and rescued. We reached the hospital at around 2.30 pm.

After treatment, it will be released into the forest.

The attacker is a 3-year-old male leopard. There are no major injury marks on his body. There are some scratches near the stomach and tail. The rehabilitation process is going on under the supervision of wildlife experts from Lucknow. Monitoring is being done.
