Re: Kitty Came in with Tummy Ache
^^^Best not to actually "pull" out strings of stuff such as string, dental floss, etc...it can lacerate delicate bowels. Best to cut it off near the anus and very carefully watch the kitty for any signs of G.I. distress from the foreign body such as vomiting or loss of appetite, changes in bowel function, rectal bleeding, etc. That's a LOT of hair bands, omg. We had a tiny yorkie that got into the kid's bathroom wastebasket, and we found him hiding and shaking with dried blood on his rear. Rushed him to the hospital I wworked at...After xrays & stabilizing him and giving him and IV fluids & blood, we did his gastric surgery. He had in his stomach: a makeup wedge sponge, a tampon wrapper, 2 bent q-tips, a bunch of my daughter's long hair, and a wad of grass. My boss did the surgery and I assisted. Unfortunately, he had vagal nerve damage and developed mega esophagus during his recovery. :( I ended up putting him to sleep 2 weeks later. Thank God I worked for the vet, he wrote off a $2200 bill. |

Re: Kitty Came in with Tummy Ache
You can literally pull out the cats intestines if you attempt to pull string hanging out of their butt. IF YOUR CAT HAS INJESTED STRING: DO NOT PULL IT OUT OF THE BUTT Instead, snip the dragging ends off, and wait for the cat to pass the string. You can kill you animal by trying to pull anything out of them. |
