A Lakeland man was charged Friday with stalking a 15-year-old girl.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office charged John Kevin Holley, 34, of 2410 County Road 540A, with one misdemeanor count of stalking.

According to the arrest report, Holley has pursued the girl for a year, repeatedly asking her to be his girlfriend and asking for her phone number.

He was arrested and taken to the county jail. He was released Saturday.
