that, to somebody like myself who is fascinated with morality, is a shocking and scary mindset for a person to hold. what is also frightening is the running theme he is talking about...that:

All men are created equal and all men are uncreated equal but in between there is inequality

to me, this looks like a mentally ill and emotionally damaged individual trying to rationalize their terrifying ideas. He sums it up (i feel) best when he said:

When mankind cant find truth, untruth is converted into truth via violence.

for me, it's heartbreaking. i have a lot of the same disorders he claims to have in his notebook. at one point, when talking about his symptoms, he says of his catatonia:

developed recently. often lasts 3-5 hours in the middle of the day. if present in morning and i know it isnt particularly bad, I goad myself to move by thinking "Bambi get up, you must get up.

i understand he did a horrific thing and nothing takes that away....he is responsible for his actions....but, goddamn, this shit is heartbreaking.

What I found fascinating about it
was *how* rational it was. If you remove all emotion and empathy for people, that is what you end up with. The rest of the human race are just stick figures that you can reason away.

We need to bring back asylums for the mentally ill. Jails are not working. Of course what do insurance companies care. They knocked out a valued service (good mental health care facilities) and in the process, save a ton by not having to cover all the people murdered by the insane.

with all due respect....they still have mental health facilities. asylums are gone for a reason. we need honest mental health answers....not just plans to lock up the mentally ill.

Prisons became an industry, at the same time thousands of beds in mental health facilities closed.

it really does look like something happened and he just went crazy. he even self diagnoses his mental illnesses.

another way you know he really went crazy is because who uses/writes in notebooks anymore?
