Iran's Stoning Law: 2010 National Post Infographic
In November 2010, a two-page infographic illustrated the stoning provisions of Iran's Islamic Penal Code then in force. It described punishment for adultery and did not depict a named case or victim. The first section shows a condemned woman being bound and wrapped in a white shroud, along with examples of stones considered too small, too large or suitable under the code. The second section presents the procedure in eight stages. It depicts preparation of the pit, different burial depths for men and women, inspection of the stones and the order in which a judge or witnesses would begin throwing them. It also illustrates masked participants, a medical examination of the condemned person and the provision governing escape from the pit. |
