So after all the violence and deaths, Northern Ireland remains part of the UK, the IRA lost, waste of time really.

Re: The IRA Lost the War
The IRA failed in it's main objective to unite Ireland, but not before our government conceded to a list of their demands without which there wouldn't have been any peace. So in effect it was a conditional surrender on their part. The reality is the only real losers are the innocent people that were shot or blown to pieces on both sides....there were NO WINNERS. The sad thing is the IRA then turned into your common garden variety gangsters, and still rule parts of NI with intimidation and violence. Nice attempt at a troll thread Luton... |

Re: The IRA Lost the War
The IRA were only ever Thugs, Gangsters, Criminals, Psychopaths, etc. Basically, they behaved like moo slum terrorists with a brogue. Like FARC in Colombia is supposedly a political 'revolutionary movement' with 'high ideals' when it is in fact just another sleazy violent drug cartel. So while the IRA lost, the people of Ireland and the rest of Great Britain won. Great Britain is best served when all of it's people get along and cooperate. At the end of the day, it's 'Cooperate Or Perish' whether or not you know it now. If you look back at the history of the British Isles you will see that very few places have been invaded and/or conquered more often and by more different groups. It can easily happen again. So...be smart...or not. |

Re: The IRA Lost the War
Scotland just had a referendum on whether they wanted to be part of Britain, the public voted YES. They are free, Scotland is it's own country.
