Insane Asylum - Mexico

José Galvan runs one of Mexico's only insane asylums. In dreadful conditions, it houses patients who have been forgotten by both society and often, their own families.

Re: Insane Asylum - Mexico

This is fantastic. The unguarded, unfenced roof at the end disturbed me though. An unbalanced patient could push someone off to the cemented courtyard below. I wonder if they have government funding?

They probably get most of their funding from donations from regular people like you and me. Most assuredly they get nothing from the Mexican government because the Mexican government doesn't give two shits about these people and in many cases most of her citizens. You think the gap between the poor and rich is bad here in the States it is probably 10 times worse there. Anyway I rant it just makes me sick what has become of Juarez. I spent a lot of time down there as a kid and it was never really that bad but now it has become murder capital of the world. I just went down there in the beginning of February to visit my Godparents who live the city of Chihuhua which is getting just as bad as Juarez. To make it short if you visit down there make sure you find out before hand which parts of Mexico to stay out of because not all parts are bad, just some.

Re: Insane Asylum - Mexico

Very sad but also touching to see this guy helping these people.

It makes me so sad, what drugs have done to the Mexican people. It's not just the people involved in the cartels, it's all those millions of innocent folks who just want to live their lives.

Re: Insane Asylum - Mexico

Being the only one in the country has to be profitable... youd think with donations, people leaving them their life savings because their only child is in there plus any potential insurance or state income, that this place would be a little better off.
