Inchkeith WW2 Costal Defence Battery
Location: Firth of Forth, Scotland 56° 2′ 0″ N, 3° 8′ 6″ W The island has thousands of years of history, but most recently it was used during WW2 to house Lewis guns and QF 12 pounders, two 6" guns covering the South side, two 6" guns in the West Fort, and two 9.2" guns, probably to protect Rosyth docks and Kincardine Bridge from aerial and naval bombardment from die Gerries. Moderately interesting. |
